چکیده
This booklet consists of the addresses delivered at the opening of the new laboratory for biochemical research at McLean Hospital. Cecil K. Drinker reviews the history of research at McLean Hospital. Jordi Foich surveys biochemical research in psychiatry with emphasis on his own contributions to the chemical constitution of the brain. The record of reasearch at the Psychiatric Service of the Massachusetts General Hospital is presented by Stanley Cobb. Herbert Spencer Gasser, in an article called "Protocol for a Review of Psychiatry," stresses the importance of the analysis of scientific language and of adherence to the principle of operationalism. The book is concluded by articles by Wilder Penfield on "Psychical Seizures" and by Edward Adam Strecker on the "Psychobiology of Psychiatric Research." The paper by Jordi Folch is highly informative; Gasser's article is a stimulating and important contribution which psychiatrists are urged to read. -F. C. REDLICH
